(CNN) — New research is giving a detailed look at abusive behavior on the Web.
Seventy-three percent of adult Internet users have witnessed someone be harassed online, and 40 percent have personally experienced it. That’s according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center.
The group used responses from more than 2,800 Web users.
The survey found young adults, ages 18 to 29, are more likely than any other group to experience online harassment, and the harshest forms of abuse–physical threats, stalking and sexual harassment–are often reserved for women.
The Pew report suggests social media is where a lot of online harassment takes place.
